Why Chewable Vitamins

Wednesday, June 29th, 2011

It doesn’t matter in which part of the world you are, if you are a parent you will continue a tremendous amount of anxiety over the growth and development of your little child. The parent always prays that their child becomes healthy and strong. So as precautionary measures each parent attempts to fulfill the nutritional requirement in order that the young child does not end up having any malnutrition or nutritional deficiency. There are lots of situations where parents lag behind in giving proper nutrition to their child.

Vitamins are variants of nutritional supplements that meet up the deficiencies of a person. It adds on to the balanced diet when it is administered through the systemic route. On frequent occasions we do come across wide number of chewable vitamin supplements. These vitamins dissolve in no time when they come in contact with the tongue. Vitamins gives us a sort of shielding against deficiencies that remains even if we take a completely balanced diet. In this 21st century life has become increasingly fast and mechanical. So it is not at all easy to adjust to that kind of a routine where the body will be full of all the vitamin supplies. These chewable vitamins that are available in form of tablets or crystals such as of vitamin C replenish the requirement of the individual.

Vitamins of the chewable type have been available since a long time back. Our parents also got to use them. Today’s vitamin tablets have pretty good taste. Such is because they are available in wide variety of flavors. These vitamin supplements do not contain any artificial flavors and preservatives ; so the range of acceptance is better. The chewable varieties of tablets directly go to the stomach in the systemic circulation.

It is significantly necessary to add to the balanced diet with vitamins and minerals. This shields us against various illnesses and diseased conditions. Chewable vitamins have sources of antioxidant agents and protect us from free radical destruction. These substantiate in development of tissues and collagen material. It has been verified that chewable vitamin supplements and other vitamins protect us from the harmful bacteria’s and disease causing viruses.

Chewable vitamins carries lots of benefits. In older days when the chewable vitamin supplements were not there in the market the vitamins had to be taken with milk. The vitamins taken with milk created a lot of problems as the calcium ions present in the milk usually interfered with the vitamins thereby suppressing the action of the vitamins. These are medications that travels directly to the stomach and initiates quick release. This accelerates the rate of absorption and action of the vitamin supplement.

So it has been realized that chewable vitamins have topped the charts and piped out the others of the same field. Test it out right now!

It matters not how much you feel you are knowledgeable about chewable vitamins and even on chewable prenatal vitamins, visit this incredibly informative site to be amazed at really necessary information

Weight Loss With Green Tea

Monday, January 31st, 2011

Green tea is a staple beverage that has been consumed for several centuries. Its origin is in the eastern parts of the world such as China and Japan and is consumed in a variety of ways.

Green tea is believed to play a big role in weight loss amongst other health benefits. Green tea may be brewed in a way similar to the traditional hot tea consumed these days. Green tea can be served either hot in small tea cups, or chilled on the rocks as some prefer.

The tea is also used as an ingredient in many diet supplements today where it often listed as green tea extract. The extract contained in these supplements has similar effects to the tea.

The market is currently saturated with many diet tea beverages for you to choose from, therefore, it would be helpful to sift through various brands and find one that works well for your body. It would also be really helpful to know what to look for in green tea diet beverages. Mixtures that come from the natural ingredients are preferable. Choose green tea drinks that have low caffeine content. The decaffeinated option of green tea is also available. If you don’t like the taste of the tea then the extract will be a suitable alternative

Green tea products also contain many natural energizers such as guarana and ginseng. These herbs have been proven to act as natural energy boosters without giving you the ‘crash’ which results from drinking too much caffeine.

Many studies have documented a wide range of health benefits from green tea. These include:

1. It gives some protection against stomach, breast and skin cancer.

2. It helps to reduce signs of ageing.

3. It helps to reduce the chances of cognitive impairment.

4. It helps with weight loss

5. It helps to boost the immune system

6. It enhances mental focus

7. It is believed to reduce blood sugar and cholesterol levels

All green teas come from the plant Camelia sinensis. The health benefits of green tea have been attributed to the powerful antioxidant effect of ‘polyphenols’ and ‘catechins’. Epigallocatechin Gallete or EGCG is the major one of these and it is known to stimulate metabolism and accelerate weight loss.

Green tea is now among the popular diet supplements in the market today. Green tea is now available in many convenient forms including capusle, powders and extracts. Green tea supplements are best for professionals ‘on the go’ who don’t have so much time to spare.

What if Mother Nature Manufactured Vitamin Pills?

Monday, December 27th, 2010

Part One. Debate on Why Some Nutritional Supplements Are Not Considered To Be Effective
Part Two: Ten Important Concerns About How Vitamin Pills Are Manufactured and Your Supplements Decision

The vitamin mineral industry is a huge 15.7 billion dollar industry that is largely unregulated. It expects continuous growth to a trillion dollar business as people continue to search for wellness and anti-aging products. These are defined as preventative care products rather than a “wait-till-you-get-sick” treatment.
As informed consumers we acknowledge certain facts:

(1) Natural foods with nutrients, enzymes, fiber still remain the best source of balanced cellular structure and energy

(2) Diets do not provide all the nutrients for a number of reasons

(3) Vitamins and minerals play a role in disease prevention

(4) One of the-most important decision is what supplements to trust to deliver these essential nutrients

Now here’s the dilemma. As an example, let’s say we’re browsing among the frenzy of items in a health food store, and we notice a flyer with this information: Enjoy Complete Nutrition. All Natural. Take One A Day! The ingredients sound potent enough with a total of 670 chemical activities, at a very low cost, so we ask for it at the counter. We receive a medium sized box, take it home, open it and to our utter surprise we get a banana!

This revelation has been a major turning point in my wellness education. I looked at fruits and vegetables with a total sense of awe, respect and importance. Just imagine that a banana, an apple, a carrot, or potato already contain an amazing list of hundreds of ingredients for biochemical activities that a bottle of pills can never come close to replicating. The fact that the word vitamin was coined a century ago by scientists to try and explain the benefits of food can never replicate the total nutrients provided by Nature through millennia.

This is the heart of the discussion transpiring for decades. Nature through her holistic balance and synergy already makes food that best suits our body’s needs. Nature already uses plants to produce a synchronized mixture of bioavailable vitamins, minerals, amino proteins, macro-nutrients, micro-nutrients, digestive enzymes, disease-fighting phytochemicals or anti-oxidants, probotic factors for the GI tract, and fiber.

The problem, however, is that the quality of food has been seriously compromised. For example, how can a store-bought banana picked rock hard and green, shipped thousands of miles away, be the same as a yellow fruit ripened by the sun? It should be mentioned that general diet principles of eliminating sugar and grains, eating unprocessed food as close to raw as possible is still the best source of health and supplements should not be taken to replace a faulty diet. The Natural Medicines Comprehensive database provides objective information about any natural ingredient and level of effectiveness for various medical conditions.

So we begin to search for a good dietary supplement in an industry compared to the Wild West full of high claims and competition.

First, how does the average consumer decide what is the best value in supplements? Too often they put their health into “the hands of the lowest bidder.” They look at the price tag even though they realize that lowest price is rarely equated to best quality in any commodity. You can’t buy a Cadillac at Cavalier prices and expect a Cadillac performance. The cheapest route, as with the cheapest cars or the cheapest vitamins, can end up with all kinds of problems. Perhaps you can rent, steal or borrow spare car parts, but, unfortunately, how can you remodel a sluggish or broken body?

Second, education becomes an important ally. Who are the manufacturing companies, who are the suppliers of raw ingredients and what are they, what controls are used in the manufacturing process, and how is the product tested for quality control?

We start at the top with the manufacturing companies themselves and there are thousands of them. They are basically unregulated except by the DSHEA (Dietary Supplement Health Education Act) whose mandate is to incorporate supplements into the same category as food. It was pointed out once that choosing the kind of pizza to eat is not the same as taking supplements for possible therapeutic effects.

For some manufacturers, it’s as easy as placing an order from a supplier for certain tablets and remedies that are custom made and tailored to individual needs. They stick a label on a bottle with marketing slogans for consumers who hear “all-natural” or “cure-all” for what they want to believe. Other manufacturers abide by GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards to ensure their ingredients and processing are along the same lines as pharmaceutical drug-making companies. An exemplary company should have a “stringent commitment to scientific validity, proven efficacy of its formulations, and a holistic approach to cellular nutrition and a voluntary compliance to USP pharmaceutical standards for potency, quality, and purity.” Dr. MacWilliam

So, how do your vitamins measure up? Do you know the answers to these 3 important questions:

(1) What are the sources of ingredients?

(2) How are they manufactured?

(3) What scientific studies show their effectiveness?

In my opinion, my answers to these questions are found in a whole food chewable supplement from the best nutrient-rich sources on both land and sea and formulated by a renowned doctor in the nutritional industry.
How would you answer these questions about your supplements?

Part 2 will look at TEN basic concerns about the vitamin manufacturing process and the best decision you can make about your brand of vitamin pills.

What Vitamins And Minerals Are Found In Nature’s Pharmacy?

Saturday, December 25th, 2010

How many times have you heard your mother or grandmother say, “Make sure you eat all your vegetables.” But they did not know how valuable this advice is in light of modern scientific research about plant nutrients. By eating just one vegetable of your choice, your body also receives hundreds of special phytonutrients and their health benefits.

Phytonutrients or phytochemicals are abundant micronutrients found in plants in leaves, stems, roots. Plants use them for protection from the environment, and now bioscientists are recommending them for protection in human cells. There is a definite correlation between natural plant profiles and how they support the levels of biochemicals used in human metabolism.

Here are 7 ways that even basic phytonutrition education can begin to change health and diet:

1. There are three elements found in vitamins, namely Carbon, Hydrogen and Oxygen. The same elements are found in anti-oxidants and phytonutrients in various combinations. This begs the question why only a handful of vitamins are branded as essential stand-outs from the remaining combinations. It would be impossible to formulate pills for all the current and future phytonutrients…although some companies will try for profit. It is best to eat your phytonutrients. For example, blueberries by virtue of plant pigments called anthocyanins have 2400 times the anti-oxidant power of Vitamin A. There are 40 anthocyanins and maybe 300 other compounds working together.

2. The anecdotal restorative properties of traditional herbal medicines are now being verified in scientific studies. Researchers with the USDA have found that herbs are an abundant source of antioxidants and could provide many healthy benefits when supplementing a balanced diet. Herbs have higher antioxidant activity than fruits, vegetables and some spices. In fact, people should use more herbs for flavoring instead of salt and artificial chemicals. Herbs may contain powerful pharmacologic agents because many of the important drugs used today are derived from herbs:

(a) white willow bark led to aspirin
(b) Mexican wild yam led to birth control pills
(c) -foxglove led to digitalis
(d) periwinkle led to vinblastine and vincristine (two anti-cancer drugs) and many more

3. Include seaweed vegetables in your diet or supplement because they are particularly rich in protein and also contain carotenoids, vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids. They show properties such as antioxidant, antiviral, anticancer, anti-allergy, immune -enhancing, liver-protecting and blood lipid-lowering effects. Seaweed draws an extraordinary wealth of mineral elements from the sea that can account for up to 36% of its dry mass (macronutrients: sodium, calcium, magnesium, potassium, chorine, sulfur, phosphorus and trace elements: iodine, iron, zinc, copper, selenium, molybdenum, fluoride, manganese, boron, nickel and cobalt). Seaweed is one of the richest plant sources of calcium.

4. Become very familiar with a phytonutrient from the sulforaphane family which contain isothiocyanates . They have shown prevention of various animal cancers such as lung, breast, esophagus, liver, small intestine and bladder. They are potent anti-oxidants and stimulators of natural detoxifying enzymes in the body. They help to lower blood pressure and the body’s inflammatory response, leading to better cardiovascular health.

In fact, research done in the 1950′s was very exciting, but largely forgotten. It showed the effects of diet on the body’s response to X-rays.The report was that guinea pigs exposed to whole body radiation had lower mortality and hemorrhaging when previously fed on cabbage than when prefed on beets. .Further investigation showed that all control animals without cabbage died rom X-radiation except for animals that got oats, wheat bran, supplemented with raw cabbage which had a 52% survival rate. Broccoli was found to be even more protective. The notion that something as “simple” as cabbage to protect against something as potent as radiation was unheard of and not taken seriously.

5. Libraries of information exist about vitamins, but phytonutrients are new-comers to the health table. It’s rather not surprising to see the scurry of companies trying to capitalize on new research trends. In fact, there is currently a sort of phyto-information war going on. On one side, pill-makers are trying to package and promote phytonutrient supplements as the new magic cure-all. On the other side, the researchers are trying to determine scientifically just what phytochemicals are in which foods and their benefits.

The best advice is to eat the real thing. Get your phytos from food, not just from pills. Like other nutrients, phytos operate under the biochemical principle of synergy (1+1=3). Eating a whole tomato is better than swallowing a pill that contains a chemical called lycopene isolated from a tomato. By eating a few florets of broccoli you’re not only getting the beta carotene you could get in a pill, but you’re also getting the health benefits of hundreds or thousands of other phytos that don’t even have names yet.

6. Researchers have identified the top twelve PHYTO foods. While nearly all plant foods contain health-promoting phytochemicals, the following are the most phyto-dense food sources:

SOY
TOMATO
BROCCOLI
GARLIC
FLAXSEED
CITRUS FRUITS
MELONS (cantaloupe)
PINK GRAPEFRUIT
BLUEBERRIES
SWEET POTATOES
CHILI PEPPERS
LEGUMES (beans/lentils)

BIG PERSONAL HEALTH QUESTION: How many of these phyto-rich foods are on your shopping list?

7. Start to believe in BIONUTRITION. Start to believe that the body has a great ability to rebuild, repair and defend itself against oxidative stress or free radicals. This can be called bionutrition because the cells are receiving essential micronutrients at a level that provides health benefits. Start to believe that the greatest advances in medicine over the next years are not going to be in manufactured pills or drugs but in nutritional science drawn from Nature’s Pharmacy.

In summary, get better information about the medicinal qualities of phytonutrients, phytonutrition and Nature’s pharmacy. Food is your medicine. Be able to identify the dietary habits that sabotage or diminish your amazing cells. The breakthrough is to stop believing you are a victim surrounded by external circumstances. Get to know your fresh fruits and vegetables in a personal way rather than processed “stuffs.” Your body is your temple. Your food is its structure. Your will to good health and longevity is its light.
