How To Lose Weight: Eat Food With Low Calories

We all understand we should avoid food with high calories and eat food with low calories if we want to lose weight. To do this we need to know what these foods are. While it is easy to to recognize some foods as having high calories it is not always so easy to tell some of the other foods.There are the easy ones like ice cream, cakes, cream buns, cookies, fries and others. We know we should avoid these foods or eat them sparingly. However it is the everyday food we eat that can be the problem.

There are foods we think are healthy and all right to eat that can be high in calories, which are working against our efforts to lose weight. The trouble is it can be quite an effort to suddenly change from these foods if they form an important part of our diet, but we can do it gradually.

Here are some common foods that we can replace with low calorie versions or limit the amount we have.

*Dairy – low fat milk, yoghurt, sour cream, cream, cheese

*Butter – there are some version with lower fat but margarine has less fat

*Meat – lean beef, buffalo, lamb, chicken and turkey without the skin

*Fish – low in calories and has essential oils, but be careful with tartar sauce and mayonnaise

*Nuts – most nuts are healthy but can be high in calories. Eat small quantities or replace with fresh fruit

*Pasta – stay away from the white cream sauces

*Salad dressings and mayonnaise – choose low fat versions

*Fruit and vegetables – most fruit and vegetables are low in calories. Replace white potatoes with sweet potatoes. Bananas are high in calories, but have other important elements

*Bread – not low in calories so we need to be careful what we put on it

From what I can see, it is hard to find low-calorie bread unless you make it yourself, which is not practical for most of us. If you check the calories on bread in the supermarket, some breads are lower than others but you have to wonder if that is because the slices are thinner. The best we can do is not eat too much and not load it up with lashings of butter and spreads. Bread is such a staple it is very hard to give it up entirely.

There is a lot more food with low calories available now, as so many people are watching their weight or their health. Many foods, like most fruit and vegetables, are naturally low in calories, so it is a good idea to choose these when you can. One of the problems is our tendency to use rich sauces for dishes like pasta and seafood. While the food itself is low-calorie and healthy the sauces increase the calories count significantly.

With a little bit of thought it is not too hard to gradually change to food with low calories. The main thing is to be aware of what we are eating and where possible, choose the low-calorie, low-fat alternatives. This is one of the best ways to lose weight and one of the best ways to be healthy.

The fact is, if we take in more calories than we use we will put on weight. Over time, we will put on more weight and our health will deteriorate. We can avoid this either by eating less food or including more food with low calories in our diet. For many of us, it is probably a good idea to do both. The trouble with eating less food is it can leave you feeling hungry, which is self-defeating. Low-calorie food is generally more satisfying, so you do not feel the need to be snacking.

Our body needs calories

Our body does need a certain number of calories just to keep working. For men this is somewhere between 2000 and 2400 a day and for women from 1600 to 2000, depending on their ages. Even though most of us have more than we need it is important not to cut calorie intake right down.. Some diets can be dangerous unless they are done under supervision. We are not talking about doing that. We are talking about making sure you include more food with low calories into your diet.

If you are doing a lot of physical activity you need more calories than the average person, as your body needs the energy. That’s why you will often see people who are physically active continually snacking or grazing. They are looking to replace that energy. Because they are so active they not only need the extra energy but they avoid becoming overweight because they burn off any excess calories

Be aware of foods high in calories

You do not need to become a calories counter but you do need to be aware of the foods that are high in calories. These foods are generally the unhealthy foods. They are the foods that most overweight people have been eating – and that is often why they have a weight problem. Foods that have a lot of sugar also have a lot of calories – popular breakfast cereals, sodas, and soft drinks. There are other obvious ones such as chocolate, candy bars, cakes and cookies. Sometimes they are hard to resist but they do have high calories..

Nutritionists and other health professionals say we should eat several smaller meals rather than large meals several hours apart.. The food they recommend is generally low-fat and low-sugar, which means low-calorie. This sustains our energy, keeps our blood sugar more even and helps control our weight.

We do need to think about what we are putting into our bodies. Doctors, and now Governments, are warning us of the dangers of becoming overweight. They tell us obesity is on the increase and has become one of the big health problems. These days there is a tendency to eat high calorie food because it has become part of our modern diet and we do need to be aware of this. If we want to be healthy, which means controlling our weight, we should know the difference between food with low calories and food with high calories.

The True Benefits Of A Low Fat Diet

A world wide report lately shows the true benefits of a low-fat diet, and their benefits pertaining to cancer and heart disease. A study at The Women’s Health Clinic in Baltamore say’s that a low-fat diet, by itself, will not greatly decrease the chance of heart disease or cancers in women. The experts have found that the lowering in saturated and trans fats may give better results. They showed that women participating in this diet saw a 8% reduction in breast cancer.

Also, no compelling changes were observed in the appearance of heart disease. An impressive 45,000 women, from the age of 47 to 77, took part in what is known for the American’s largest study of a low fat diet to ever be documented. The study took place over a period of nine years, in which they planned to test the conditions that these diets were helpful in decreasing the risk of heart diseases and cancers. In the midst of the 45,000 women, 38% were assigned to a low-fat diet, which instructed that they lower their fat consumption to 25% of all their calories consumed.

These women were also instructed to eat fruits and vegetables on five or more occasions during the day, also with six servings of grains. The remaining 62% of them were assigned as the reverse group, and were said to keep their eating ways as before. The Women’s Health Clinic specialists, however, observed that a number of low fat diet women did not meet the 25% fat consumption goals.

In a current news report, let out by , the Baltamore experts revealed that women who wish to keep their health should think about a diet that is both low in saturated and trans fats while being high in fiber and vegetables. This diet would substitute one that is focused only on the eating of low fat foods.”Just changing to low fat foods is not going to bring forth much health benefit in a large amount of women,” said Marcia Stefanick, instructor of medicine at the Baltamore Prevention Research Center and chair of The Women’s Health Clinic control committee. “Rather than trying to eat low fat foods, women should try to reduce saturated fats and trans fats.” In addition to any diet program, regular exercise and health screenings should be used for earlier discovery and the most adequate treatment.

Three Specific Fat Loss Tips

Welcome to the first part of my fat loss “ULTRA Quick-Start” guide. This guide is 7 specific tips, tricks and secrets to get you jump started FAST so you can lose fat and get in the best shape of your life. This quick-results mini guide is intended for every busy parent who needs to get up to speed as quickly as possible!

Let’s get started. Today we will cover the first three tips.

1. Resistance makes you stronger, and hotter both metabolism and appearance wise. Resistance training is not only going to help you burn calories while you are doing the actual act of training but also when you are not due to increased muscle mass consuming calories to maintain itself.

Resistance training can be done many ways but as long as you push a muscle outside its comfort zone, then mission accomplished. This means you can either train at home or anywhere using only your body weight or you can pay for a gym membership and workout there.

Generally speaking, body weight is great if you value flexibility, handling your body in any circumstance easily and do not want time, money or location restrictions on your training.

Training at the gym is better if you want camaraderie, to use machines because you don’t want to learn proper exercise form or are interested in the sport of weight lifting and developing maximum strength against external objects. It is also great if you do not want to do your cardio outdoors and want a variety of cardio machines instead of simple fast paced training.

2. Cardio. Cardio specifically is not magic for weight loss but it is a less intense way to get your total calorie expenditure higher so you create a calorie deficit over all. Generally speaking, cardio is pushed as the proper way to get your heart healthy through elevating your heart rate and a great way to burn weight off. In reality, fast paced weight training does both these things with additional benefits far and beyond what simple cardio can provide.

What cardio DOES have to offer is a less intense way to burn some extra calories when done in the traditional steady state model. You can not weight train intensely as frequently as you could jog and so cardio can be put in for an extra burn. Cardio in the form of intervals and specific sport related activities like sprinting is a different matter. The benefits of that kind of training are many fold including increased speed, agility, power and recovery ability.

3. Low fat. Ketosis is a state your body goes into when carbohydrate stores are low and energy is needed. Your body converts fat stores into energy. While this sounds great and is the basis of many new low carb diets, I have found that high fat is not the way to go. While it does work, I have found with my clients that when they eat low fat but include lots of complex carbs, fruits and colourful vegetables mostly in a raw state, they have better results. The extra nutrition found in the plant based foods makes the system run better overall, then consuming more fat and less carbohydrate in the effort to reach ketosis.

Cravings are almost non existent, energy levels are higher, recovery is quicker and the skin and general look of health is higher.
